Revisiting quranic verses and learning about the Prophet Muḥammad’s life (peace be upon him), are necessary but not sufficient ways for Muslims to live out more compassion in their lives. This paper also draws inspiration from other faith traditions, in addition to examining the originality (or not) of the basmala, the invocatory prayer beginning every quranic chapter except one.
