This is a practical tool that highlights the relevance of Adlerian Psychology in the life of the Church."],"abstract_tesim":["The absence of exclusion does not create inclusion. Inclusion is the active, ongoing, and intentional practice of incorporating all people into the life of the church. First Congregational Church of Anchorage is a member of the Open and Affirming coalition; but are they as inclusive as they claim to be. This ethnographic case study of First Congregational Church of Anchorage utilizes a congregation-wide survey, semi-structured interviews, and auto-ethnographic reflection to assess the congregation’s inclusion of queer people of faith. This research provides a rubric for assessing a congregation’s practices of inclusion grounded in Alfred Adler’s Gemeinschaftsgefühl.\r\nFocusing on democracy, community, and belonging, this research determines the three lived values of FCCAK; exposing the tension of being an Open and Affirming congregation that allows homophobia in their community. The ultimate outcome of this research is the Congregational Inclusivity in Practice tool, a practical resource that any church can use to assess their own practices of inclusivity"],"license_tesim":["https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"bibliographic_citation_tesim":["Rev Dr Johnathan C Jones"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/a68c9410-e91c-4763-9c80-71d10140df7d?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-one_step_mediated_deposit-approving","admin_set/default-one_step_mediated_deposit-depositing","admin_set/default-one_step_mediated_deposit-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["a68c9410-e91c-4763-9c80-71d10140df7d"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["DMin Papers"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5fee7d74-6f58-4c88-a3b1-860b847dd7c2"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["a68c9410-e91c-4763-9c80-71d10140df7d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Theses and Dissertations"],"account_cname_tesim":["ctschicago.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"read_access_person_ssim":["johnathan.jones@ctschicago.edu"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"_version_":1863757742916763648,"timestamp":"2026-04-28T23:11:31.423Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2026-04-13T22:36:40Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2026-04-14T19:50:14Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"4d344f83-51fc-4346-9cc0-4f9ff8a2833c","accessControl_ssim":["579aa08e-f094-4cca-8881-d8cfa28d55f3"],"hasRelatedMediaFragment_ssim":["b0596ffe-f31b-4a9a-893b-c5ab3df6ba47"],"hasRelatedImage_ssim":["b0596ffe-f31b-4a9a-893b-c5ab3df6ba47"],"depositor_ssim":["jacob.may@ctschicago.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["jacob.may@ctschicago.edu"],"title_tesim":["What’s Queer about the Eucharist? Louis-Marie Chauvet developed a Eucharistic theology informed by Martin Heidegger’s linguistic turn in philosophy and Jacques Lacan’s psychoanalysis. Chauvet describes the Eucharist as a form of symbolic exchange and central to the creation of Christian identity. This thesis demonstrates compatibility between Chauvet and sodomitical theology on the effects of sin and concern for the other, yet a queer critique of Chauvet’s Eucharistic theology identifies elided patriarchal and heterosexist dynamics in his account and inattention to the “structural queer.” Critiques of Tonstad’s theology are engaged, and suggestions for future research are provided."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/b0596ffe-f31b-4a9a-893b-c5ab3df6ba47?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-one_step_mediated_deposit-approving","admin_set/default-one_step_mediated_deposit-depositing","admin_set/default-one_step_mediated_deposit-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["b0596ffe-f31b-4a9a-893b-c5ab3df6ba47"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Master's Theses"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["a73e1c05-49cd-4a4b-93e7-8fd66694bdf5"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["b0596ffe-f31b-4a9a-893b-c5ab3df6ba47"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Theses and Dissertations"],"account_cname_tesim":["ctschicago.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"read_access_person_ssim":["jacob.may@ctschicago.edu"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"_version_":1862476728375443456,"timestamp":"2026-04-14T19:50:20.756Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Dissertation","hits":1,"label":"Dissertation"},{"value":"Thesis","hits":1,"label":"Thesis"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Jones, Johnathan","hits":1,"label":"Jones, Johnathan"},{"value":"May, Jacob","hits":1,"label":"May, Jacob"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[{"value":"Adlerian","hits":1,"label":"Adlerian"},{"value":"Alaska","hits":1,"label":"Alaska"},{"value":"LGBTQI2S","hits":1,"label":"LGBTQI2S"}],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Queer Theology","hits":2,"label":"Queer Theology"},{"value":"Christianity","hits":1,"label":"Christianity"},{"value":"Church Growth","hits":1,"label":"Church Growth"},{"value":"Church and gays","hits":1,"label":"Church and gays"},{"value":"Queer Theory","hits":1,"label":"Queer Theory"},{"value":"Sacraments","hits":1,"label":"Sacraments"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[{"value":"Alaska","hits":1,"label":"Alaska"}],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English ","hits":1,"label":"English "}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":2,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"2026","hits":2,"label":"2026"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[{"value":"PDF","hits":1,"label":"PDF"}],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"DMin Papers","hits":1,"label":"DMin Papers"},{"value":"Master's Theses","hits":1,"label":"Master's Theses"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Doctor in Ministry","hits":1,"label":"Doctor in Ministry"},{"value":"Master of Arts","hits":1,"label":"Master of Arts"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[{"value":" Ministry in the public square","hits":1,"label":" Ministry in the public square"}],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Chicago Theological Seminary","hits":2,"label":"Chicago Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[{"value":"Theology","hits":1,"label":"Theology"}],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Chicago Theological Seminary","hits":2,"label":"Chicago Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":2,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
